Dr. Benjamin Clinton, currently serving as the Deputy Superintendent in Raymondville, has been announced as the lone finalist for the role of Superintendent at Mercedes Independent School District.
Top Candidate for the Leadership Position
The Mercedes ISD Board of Trustees made the decision during a special meeting held on Saturday, Jan. 11, naming Dr. Clinton as their top candidate for the district’s leadership position.
“It’s an incredible privilege to be selected as the lone finalist for Superintendent of Schools at Mercedes ISD,” Dr. Clinton said. “I’m eager to join the Mercedes community and work closely with the Board, parents, and local stakeholders to support students in reaching their highest potential.”
Wealth of Experience
Dr. Clinton brings a wealth of experience to the role, having held various positions in education, including Special Programs Director, Curriculum and Instruction Facilitator, principal, teacher, and coach.
Graduate of the Leadership Academy
He is also a graduate of the Leadership Academy™, a program by JG Consulting that prepares senior education leaders to transition into Superintendent roles. Dr. Clinton is the 24th graduate of the program to achieve this milestone.
Per state regulations, the Mercedes ISD Board of Trustees must wait 21 days before formally offering Dr. Clinton a contract for the Superintendent position.
